How comfort makes us feel better and soothes us at our lowest

Ever wonder why curling up with a blanket and a cup of hot tea while it is raining outside sounds so appealing? When things get bleak or feel gray & hopeless sometimes we just need to feel there is hope. Using all of our senses to feel comforted...the sounds of a crackling fire, the feeling of a soft and cozy throw blanket and the smell of a hot cup of mint tea. These all take you somewhere comforting and you feel safe. Safe from the world, safe from our fears, trauma and even safe from our anxieties. The sun will shine again but in our darkest moments is when simple comforts can give you hope and encouragement.

Babies have simple needs. Feed them, change them, let them sleep and cuddle them when they need a little love. As we grow our simple needs don't change all that much.

When we feel at our lowest it's our friends and families that comfort us with their  words of encouragement, gifts that help us sleep, gifts that remind us we are not alone and every time we wrap up in that soft blanket or put on those fluffy socks or smell the fragrance of a sweet friendship candle we feel the hugs and we know that we are loved.
